Metzler

Metzler viene fondata nel 1830 a Parigi, per poi trasferire le sue attività a Stoccarda, in Germania, nel 1911. Questa storica azienda tedesca ha collaborato con successo con un altro mostro sacro dell’ottica tedesca, la Zeiss, le cui lenti sono montate su molti occhiali Metzler, soprattutto degli anni ’80.

Per questo, nei modelli vintage, si può trovare inciso “Metzler Germany” sull’astina sinistra e “Zeiss West Germany” sulla destra.

Noti per la loro qualità, gli occhiali Metzler attiravano un pubblico sofisticato. L’ex cancelliere tedesco Kohl indossava i modelli 0768 e 0772 che vennero rapidamente soprannominati “gli occhiali Helmut Kohl“.

Tuttavia, così come per Zeiss, anche gli occhiali Metzler non fecero mai breccia tra le celebrità fino a quando nel 2009 Brad Pitt indossò un modello vintage, il Metzler 0256, facendo diventare il leggendario marchio uno dei più famosi tra gli appassionati di moda, dandogli così l’attenzione meritata.

Metzler

Metzler was founded in 1830 in Paris, and then moved to Stuttgart, Germany, in 1911. This historic German company has successfully collaborated with another sacred monster of German optics, the Zeiss, who’s lenses are mounted on many Metzler glasses, especially from the 1980s.

For this reason, in vintage models, you can find engraved “Metzler Germany” on the left rod and “Zeiss West Germany” on the right.

Known for their quality, Metzler glasses attracted a sophisticated audience. Former German chancellor Kohl wore the models 0768 and 0772 which were quickly dubbed “the Helmut Kohl glasses”.

However, as with Zeiss, Metzler glasses never made inroads among celebrities until in 2009 when Brad Pitt wore a vintage model, the Metzler 0256,making the legendary brand one of the most famous among the fashion fans, thus giving him the attention he deserved.
